Duncan .an nounces, is to be held Wednesday night At 8 o'clock in Central Library hail . for the purpose of putting 'inde pendent candidates in the- field to etrive for congress from the Third dis trict, and to oppose Circuit Judges Robert Tucker and Walter Evana at the November election, Puncan says that, a large force composed of labor leaders, 'church people, Defhocrats, Re publicans and Progressives, is back of the movement. McEIveen. pas tor ! of '. the First Congregational church, is to- be the nominee for con gress, and has consented to make the race, so it is understood. , It is also reported that Loring K. Adams and H. M. Ester rr i have been considered as poeaible nominees for circuit judge.. Duncan also announced Jthat, the re-. call of Circuit Judge Evans will- also ' be taken . up for discussion. Dr. McEIveen admits that he has been interviewed and solicited in con nection, with his becoming a candidate for congress from the third district, bue he denies that he has consented to make the race In case of his nomina tion tomorrow night. "People have come to see me," he says, "and have written me letters and I have received petitions urging, me to run. ' But the matter . has been so in definite I have made no statement as to whit I might do." . "If you' were nominated tomorrow night," Dr. McEIveen was asked, "then what would you do?" "Well," he answered. "I would find out who it was who nominated me, who they represented, and what plat form I would be expected to run on, and then make up my -mind about it. William Heelon 1, alleg" bojrsafe cracker, stayed to rescue his pal, Edward Tierney, Irom the police. It cost him his life. The two bojs were surprised while sttempting to loot a conrectioner s sate here Monday morning. As they dashed through the rear door of the store, the police caught Tierney. Heelon flew at them with the hatchet that he and Tierney had used to knock- off the safe combination, the police charge, and Tierney wriggled free. The two boys streaked .down the alley. . Police Sergeant Morgan fired twice. Heelon stumbled, hit in the side, and was about to pitch to the ground when Tierney caught him by the arm. and together they escaped their pursuers. Heelon was .bleeding internally, and when he and Tierney reached the Hee lon home he was unconscious.
