The association considered, spending I $3000.
The organization felt that such a. campaign had
state had increased beyond consumption. In
the advertising campaign the dealers will show
that eggs are one of the cleanest products de
livered to the door of the conmimef, because
' they are encased ih a dirtprouf shell.
The associations also ecceptedl the resigna
tion of E. J, IHson as president. Dixon re-

Ponltry Producer A. W. Ellis of the Sin

PEACH PEAK EXPECTED S003T
Peak of the Yakima Elberta peach crop is
expected after the middle of next week. Brok
ers look for heavy shipments beginning Tues
day, and for the 'peak of the crop about next
Thursday or EMay. Portjaind market will
also see some very cheap peaches this year,

Early next week the housewife
should make preparations) for canning:
peaches, as prices will probably be
the lowest this year within the next
four to 10 days. Peak of the Elbert
crop from Yakima Is expected about
the middle of next week. Peaches
will be about 10c a box- cheaper this
season than last year, as the growers
will have to unload all theiip stock
oh the Pacific coast markets (instead
of shipping it East, due to railroad
strike conditions. The peach crop is
also heavy this year. Many consum
ers, who: anticipate a peach shortage
next season are planning- on preserv
ing enough of the fruit to last for two
years.. : . i
I Pickling cucumberssg and pickling
onions are now on the market in lib
eral supply and should be secured at
once.
' Next week will also see plenty of
tomatoes, and wilt probably be a good
canning week for this product.
i Corn prices have dropped to 20c a
dozen, so the consumer can -afford to
buy this vegetable liberally. Mouldy
cantaloupes continue to, arrive in the
City, so great care should be exercised
in purchasing this fruit.

Shortage of Export
Demand Is Cause of
Chicago; Wheat Drop
4i
Chicago, Sept a. The wheat market i de
clined in the late i trading owing to ; ths i re
ported lsck of export demand, a break of lo
in premiums and prospects for liberal receipts
h?re and at ail points the next few days.
Light offerings early with some short covering
put the price up to the best level of the day
in the first hour. An estimate of a Western
Csnadian crop of 372,000,000 issued by ; the
Winnipeg Free Press, was a weakening : festitre,
especially as Winnipeg had 8J cars agajinst
604 cars a year ago. Export demand! was! re
ported I at a standstill st the seabosrd and
Montreal reports ware discouraging, there I be
ing no bids for Nc."2 hard winter. Deliveries
were 65.OO0 and there were sales to store of
2 5,000 busrteis. The close was to II H 0
oft. with September at December $1.0110
101 H and May $l.oH 91.06H. i
In corn the market was steadier than in
wheat, but there was profit taking snd evening
up prior to the holiday. Country sales on the
rallies sis included soma pressure. Heceipts
here ware 278 cars and primary receipts Irers
1.852.000 against j! 1,131,000 a year ago.
ommmsion bouses Were, buyers on the break.
The close was H 9 c off. with September
at 594c, December S5H065e and atay
6H 6SHc. i; .
September cats were in good demand land
there wsa small offerings, receipts of only 45
cars being a strengthening - Influence. Tbe
Canadian CTcp was: estimated by a Winnipeg
authority at 418,000,000 bushels, against
284.000.0uu bushels a year ago, this covering
only the prairie provinces. Tjie close was 1 un
changed to He Higher, with September at
32 He. December $4 0 34 Ho and May 37 H
0 87 He j : I
In protinioris there was free sellini, influ
enced largely by tba weakness in hogs. ! Re
ceipts of the latter were 6800 here, with prices
15S25e lower, lights declining the most.
Ldtrd closed b & 13o higher and ribs nominally
unchanged. I
