band of Mexican rebel under the
leadership of General Juan Carrasco,
which last niht attacked a passenger
' train bound from Mazatlan to No
eales, was driven off by a cavalry
patrol of 100 men who arrived as train
guards were about to surrender.
According to reports of C. W. Clau
sen, .state auditor. 44.4 per cent of the
$3,185,062 raised by taxation in Yakima
county last year was used for educa
tional work.
