to drive a mile or two from one part o his route back over that part of
his route already covered by him, due to the fact that th housewife was
not tip; was not home, forgot to hang the card, changed her mind and con

the driver wait while such cleaning was done, such unnecessary trips delay"
delivery to other customers and costs money that the public has to pay,
and is reflected In the price charged for ice. . .
Another unnecessary expense that must be reflected in the price is for
the detailed clerical .work and loss of accounts, caused by the charging of
coupon books, with the driver as credit man. There is as much work and
expense in handling a $4.00 or $3.00 account as there is in handling a
$100.0 account. The book has to be paid for some time: why not to the
driver at time of purchase t vTiie gopaying public's credit is not in
question, but wastefulness is. Should not the public who insist on having
a charge account pay for the expense it incurs 7 . The party who pays cash
for the books and does not cause the expense should not have to nay for
