tain, 73, early day resident of Umatilla
county, died Wednesday from peritonitis
at Ferndale. Rev. J. W. Stockton of
1 Portland, and four former pastors of the
Xew Home Baptist cuuren at uernaaie
conducted funeral services Friday. Mrs.
Chastain came to the Walla Walla valley
in 1880 and had lived on the home farm
near Ferndale for 42 years. Three child
ren. Rosa Lee Simmons, wife of the Rev,
Lee Simmons, pastor of the Nazerene
church at Dayton, Wash. ; Victor Hugo
Chastain, a'drugglst of Milton and Elmer
J. Chastain, rancher at Ferndale. survive.
