nine hospitals under construction which
had bee it under the supervision of the

were transferred. The commissioned
personnel of the public health service

Stated that he is 'preparing answers to
the two eomplalnts filed by John H. Car
son, district attorney for Marion county,
and Jtoscoe P. Hurst, Portland attorney,
representing the Iaw and Order league
of Portland, alleging fraud, misrepre
sentation and other Irregularities in. se
curing the names which compose the two

In his answer tbe attorney general
stated he will take issue with Carson
and Hurst on the contention that the act
of 'depositing?' the petition with the sec
retary of state's office here on April 19
constituted thei formal filing of these

complaints allege that in the case of
both petitions many of the names were
secured through, forgery or misrepresen
