News of the death of - Mrs. Minnie
(Reggie) Urtfahl Smith fa Ban Fran
cisco Saturday has reached Portland.
Mrs. Smith Is 'the djiugnter : of ; Mrs.
Un Urdahl of No. XZl Rom street and
has three brothers In this city. Ha Ivor
M Louis and H. P. UrdahL She spent
her early school days in Portland, and
after her marriage studied, art In Eu
rope, and on her retmrn was unusually
successful with a line of work which she
designated as art failure, a reproduction
of portraits In miniature fashioned of
woven silka and human hair. -1 -

sculpture, one of her last pieces. Pega
sus, the winged steea or myinoiogy. re
ceiving wide comment Pegasus was un
veiled with much cermony in Ean Fran
cisco In ' November, 1910. by the Pen
women's' club of that city. Later Mrs.
Smith continued her work alone artistic
lines, doing portraits in baa relief and
Interior decoration. She was about - 34
years .of age at tha time of .her death,
which followed an operation In a Ban
Francisco hospital. , ' .

pany with her husband and nurses; Mrs.
Mack Huntington of Fossil ' and Miss
Cathy of Condon, from Fossil to a Port
land hospital. i ' -
Mrs. Brlnkley was born February II,
IttS, and had lived near Fossa until her
Marriage in 1 90S, when for lour years
eh lived on the old Brlnkley place in
Benton county. - In' 1909 shd and her
huchand took up a homestead near Fos
sil, where they reelded until the present
Beeldes her husbands Mrs. Brlnkley is
survived by her son Harry and" daugh
ter Margaret her mother. v Mrs. Ellen
Lee, and -brother, Frank Dee of : Fossil ;
her sisters. Mrs. Rosie McCoy of Castle
Rock, Wash. ; Mrs. - Bessie Gage of
Mitchell, ' Mrs. Fannie Hicks, and -an
