Wheat on Breaks
j In Chicago Trade
j
'(Chicago Bureaa of The Journal)
Cweago. March S4. There was at batter
tona to tha wheat market today, although eon
fldenee in the constructive side of the market
was not Strong. Tha start was steady as cables
wsre strong la taa faoe of tha break in Liver,
pool market tha day before, especially for spot
wheat, which was Id to 2d hiaher. A few
minutes later Eastern honaaa and gouthwatera
interests sold and this encouraged locals into
making short sales. uood eommission house
buying developed on tha break and after the
aurpltts offerings were taken out of the pit and
anoria oarsrea mere was pascuy ot otienngn.
s nare were reoorta or e-ooa sued sales of
wheat for export on the break and also that
farther trig buxtnets in Duluth durum had been
closed.
Cash wheat premiums In the local market
were higher and aala to outside taIQs totalled
ao.uqo bushels.
Liverpool futures closed Ud ta Md lower.
Argentine shlpmenkt were much larger than ex
pected, totalling S.0T1.000 bushels.
I Dure wera reports of farmer plowing up
wheat In Western Kansas because of the poor
stand' but the trade was not inclined to take
these , reports seriously. Buying of Chicago May
againrt sales at Winnipeg helped to absorb the
onentigs. Bales of 100,000 bushels oX wheat
were made to go to store.
Oom was affected by the trend of wheat. The
feature of the market was the beery liauidaUon
by a - leading local long. Some good buyiug de
vetoped on the break and reliable reports told
of heavy sales of asm for export et the seaboard.
IXmeeUo shipping sales were small. Sales of
100,000 bushels of corn were made to so to
store.!
