BASKET ONI SUPPLY By Hytaaa H. Cokea Orangea aara dropping- in price for all alsea. ant large fruit continues to aell too high for the average customer. There la a Terr arg erop of email aiaed orange In California this acason anj prices on these are comparatively low, althoign high enough at that because of the tight combine of growers tn the South. ' Oranges being too high for the aver age consumer, the public continues to purchase apple, i These are now moving out In Increasing supply and the quality is extremely good. Trices remain low. Consumers neJ not pay tha extreme price for onions because for a v. .-age use the No. 2 stock Is as good as any. It will not keep as long as the No. 1 stock and may be uliKhtly smaller In size, but the onion flavor is there. Its cost Is much below Ni. 1 stock. It's a chance to save. Because the public haa been purchas ing ha na very freely and has been neg lecting bacon tecause of the relatively high price for the latter.' pack' r Inter ests have announced a cut of 3c a pound, which should be passed on to the consumer by the retailer. True to form, the Chicago market options showed a loss toward the opening because the general public believed that the reported relief purchases would' force an advance. It is the same old game with the leaders of the option trade and little depend ence can be placed upon their tactics. So f ar as can be ascertained, none of the local firms has aa yet Darticimed in the re ported buyinz by the relief commission, which ap pears to buy wherever it pleases and real com petition in the bidding is scarcely shown. It may be that some of the big eastern leaders of the trade have been asked to bid on the relief order, but many of the local people appear to have been forgotten. Bids for club wheat continue the liveliest of the trade. During the lat 24 hours they were generally around 31.0S91.u9. but little busi ness was shown below $1.09, tidewater bajJa.
