"1 knew Homer Davenport Intimately
and, greatly-admired tha lovrableness of
hla character, the largeness of- his heart
aad, tha loyalty ' which he entertained
for tha beat traditions of Oregon, his
native state. He waa one of the pio
neers of caricature and did much to
develop the art now ao commonly em
ployed In all our large newspapers. Few
cartoonists have reached the eminence
that was attained by Mr. Davenport and
.fewer have died leaving a greater circle
of friends and admirers.
