Handcar 13 on 13th
White Salmon. Wash., Dec. 2a When
Great Northern train No. 13 hit the
handcar of section crew No, ft -on De
cember IS it demolished the vehicle.
The six members of the crew who had
been riding on the handcar. Jumped
when the train waa within 40 feet of
them. The accident occurred on a sharp
curve east of White Salmon. The pilot
of the engine waa buckled under against
tbe rails. The train waa being d toured
over the 8. P. & tracks.

Sentence Is Stayed
Until January 15

Dedham, Mass., Dec VL Sentence of
Nicola Sacco and Batotomew Van Zetti,
the two radical leaders convicted here
last July, was deferred Monday by Judge
Webster Thayer of superior court, who
granted the defense counsel a further
extension of time until January 15 in
which to file a bill oz exceptions taken
at the trial.
An extension granted was to have ter
minated Tuesday. Sacco and van Zetti.
whose case has aroused intense interest
and bitterness in radical circle through
out the world, were accused of murder
ing two men in an SS000 payroll robbery
at South Bra In tree last year. Their at
torneys, who appeared for -them Mon
day, are Fred L Moore of Los Angeles,
Jeremiah McAnarney and W. Callahan.

Killed When Sled
Collides With Pole
Seattle, Dec. 26. (U. P.) As the re
sult of snow accidents last night two
boys re dead and an aged man is be
lieved dying in the city hospital today.
Ralph McCullen. aged S, and hla 16-yar-old
brother, Daniel, were killed
when their sled struck a telephone pole.
As he ran to catch a streetcar, M.
Oaklona, CS, slipped on trie snow last
night and waa struck by an automo
bile, i He sustained a fractured skull
and his condition today was crttlcat.The
driver of the car was arrested , on a
charge of reckless driving.
