There are now plenty of fows of all kinds. Turkeys came for ward at the last minute and are quoted at 45c a pound on the public market and 60c generally in the retail shops, although some of the stoes are asking as high aa 65c There Is a good supply of geese on the public market, with fancy dressed s' x-k offering at 3Sc and d jcks at 40c a pouad. with regular retail prices about 5c higher on the average. Chickens are available in plenty. Light dressed hens are selling around 26c, with over-pound stock at 32c, while fry ers are moving at 32c and broilers 35c a pound. Consumers should not pay above 35c for anything in the dressed chicken market at this time. Celery is offered In abundance, con trary to expectations and the average sales are around 10c a bunch. Cauliflower Is also in abundance and was not ruined by the freeie. as was expected. Sales at 20c to 5c a big head. Tfctre are small heads from 10c up. Root vegetable of all kinds are avail able In good supply and are usual prices. Cranberries are generally selling at 20u a pound. That in pleti - tor them. In fact with a large percent of the prune consuming season" yet to run and with both Oregon and California stocks rather low, there some Question as to sudd! lee being sufficient to take care of ordinary requirements during the remainder of the season. As yet there appears to he no disposition on the part of prune, sellers to boost the orice. but tuch a movement of values would not be at all surprising, although any serious disturbance of quotations is not likely this season. Indicating tnat there is a demand for small prunes is the fact that California interests are making a success of sales of their 5c package which is sold as a confection. . The Coos county dairymen tenered into a temporary arrangement whereby they have leased the Oregon Dairy men's lesgue creamery at Marshfield until finsl plana can be made to properly handle the milk for the farmer and dairymen adjacent to Coos Ray. U A. Larsen, formerly manager for the Oregon Dairymen's league, has been appointed agent to represent the fanners interested. A. O. Roger willact as secretary and treasurer for the organisation. There are several cheese far tons and butter factories in the county owned by the Oregon Dairymen's league. The dairymen around Coquille are making similar plana to de liver their milk at that place to the creamery now taken over by the temporary organization of the dairymen. The production for the year to date for cheese and butter is about the same aa last year for the corresponding time. Two members of the crew of the fishing boat Tano perished off Mile Rock late yes terday when the passenger steamer Har vard struck the fishing craft during a dense fog. The Harvard's lifeboats picked up four of the members of the crew, including Captain William Sylvia. The four remaining members were taken aboard the Harvard, which continued en route to Los Angeles. Arguments In the test case involving the constitutionality of the state bonus act were heard by the supreme court Tuesday afternoon. Franklin K. Korell of Portland argued in opposition, with M. EL Crum packer and Stanley Myers of Portland, repre senting the American Legion, and Willis S. Moore, assistant attorney general, de fending the act. An opinion is expected later in the week, the case being ad vanced to facilitate the sale of bonds in the event the constitutionality of the act Is upheld.
