Issue Ultimatum to
Striding Printers
Chicago, Nov. IL Publishers are
awaiting the action of members of the
printing crafts here in answer to an
ultimatum insisting the men go back to
work.
The action of the publishers request
ing a resumption of work is believed to
be an effort to bring negotiations to a
head, thereby settling the strike among
bodk printers, color press establishments
and job offices.
A resolution to break off negotiations
if the men had not returned to work
Monday wad defeated among the pub
lishers. k
Many of the compositors have declared
ruin would result from failure of the
printers to execute struck work in ae
fense of the closed shop.,
The climax came when- 250 printers
were called out in protest to an injunc
tion secured by the compositors to re
strain the closed Bhop division from
algmng further contracts with the men.

Sew Market Opened
The new IWcr A Bruhm meat and Produce
market at 268 Morrison street opened Saturday.
Tha store wss formerly occupied by the Royal
joaxery and nas Been taken, by tas new con
cern on a king term lease.
This scbxmltfpixent of a courtesy or service
is somehow the satisfactory end of a transaction.
Both parties are pleased and the relations of the
naoment, however unimportant, are more hap-
closed.
There is no occasion when an effort made for
the comfort or convenience of others is not
worth a "thank you.'
In. the daily routine of telephone operations,,
where the saving of time is the great considera
tion, the opportunity of expressing an apprecia
tion of a service rendered seldom arises.
But rernember that the telephone operator is
lutman. yCourtesy to her means more cheerful
ness in her work It will be reflected in your
own self-satisfaction.

THE-ANSWER
When the contract waa let for
pavement on the Morrison street
bridge, the usual questions for dis
cussion arose concerning; specifica
tions, etc. Ail these questions were
answered in a sentence by the) au
thorities, arho said, "Simply make
it like the pavement on Hawthorne
bridge." Incidentally, this answer
served aa a testimonial for War-renlte-Bitulithic.
because tha pave
ment on Hawthorne bridtre waa laid
over five years ago, and sustains
more heavy traffic than any pave
ment in tha city.
