Br Hyman H. Cohan Deopito all efforts of Douglas county interests to hold a? the prica of turkeys and thereby force consumers to pay extreme values, the market is somewhat ragged. Along Front street there is apparently very little keenness among retailers to purchase sup plies and the outward movement is confined en tirely to biwine.ss with northern points which hare long distance shipments to make. General salec of turkeys at wholesale con tinue around 40c a rvmnd for rood birds. Some business remains aa high as 44c, but this is for a few head and for selections. Fsct that there was no sr ramble at either Roaehnrg or Oakland this seaon has alarmed many of the turkey shippers of that section, and many are consigning their stock to tho wholesale trade, which means they will secure the beat price we market ailortK Idaho continue to offer tarkey to Portland and other Pacific coast terminals. So anxious are tha Gem state interest to sell their supplies that they are wiring many houses here to see whether they can secure bid. Buyers ara wary and do not. hare the money to speculate as in other seasons. Chickens are in an OTcrsupply and a further loss of lc is shown in the selling price of hve heary hens at 25c a pound. Other stock is slower at preVious prices. Quite liberal stocks of be turkeys are offer ing, but the demand is not keen. There ia con siderable stock of lire ducks in sight. The ootstajidine feature of the turkey market here Friday w the drop to 35 cent from the opening 'price . of 40 cents. The market opened weak, buying start ing at 40 cent, but rumors from outside mar kets aa to unsettled conditions oon brought this to the lower figure of 35 cents. A few lot of xtra chviee birds were sold at 36 and 37 cents. Outside of the pool tlie majority of the torkeyn sold were turned over to outsuie buyers, who gure reoeipta for tie lot and agreed to pay the top market price. This method is said to be most satisfactory to the glowers, a it gives them assurance of I receiving the best price. Half of tho turkeys received Friday went to tho county farm bureau pool, some were placed on tho c&fih market and the remainder were evenly distributed over the outside buyers. Tlie pool will probably receive about 75 per cent of the turkeys in the county. Bid will be received Saturday night on the pool, and in the event the cash buyers do not submit a satisfactory price it will be sent to San Francisco, Portland or tome other outside point. The turkeys this yesr are below the msr ket both in quantity and quality. The birds ara not fat and only half the usual number are being offered lor market. TT5RKEY PRICES AT BOISE SHOW TESDESCT TO DROP " Boise. Idaho, ' Nov. 1 9. Ixx-a.1 buyers are of fering but 25 cents for tarkeyB, hve weight. VI itn the letting up in tne demand from i'ort 1a od and other outside points, prices show a tendency to drop. On the other hand farmers seem determined to hold their turkeys rather than cancel prices now offered. Turkeys for local consumption were mostly contracted at 33 35 cents drypicked. They are offered on the local market at 40 cents re tail. Estimates on the number of birds required for the Boise market vary from 600 to 1000.
