California Criminal
Syndicalism Law Is
Held Constitutional
San Francisco, Nov. 14. (U. P.) The
constitutionality of the criminal syn
dicalism act passed by the state legis
lature of 191 is upheld by a decision of
the state supreme court, which reviewed
the cases of two radicals. "The supreme
court upheld tbe decisions of the, lower
court in sentencing them to San Quen-tin.
John C. Taylor and James McHugh of
Oakland. Cal.. radicals who were con
vie ted in 1919, are the men whose sen-

tences were sustained by tbe supreme
court- -
Miss Anita Whitney, prominent soci
ety woman, charity worker and com
munist, who also was sentenced, still has
an appeal pending. As other points were
Involved In her appeal, her case was not
ruled on in the present decision.

Norris, prominent Klickitat farmer and
stock breeder, was thrown from a horse
