Portland- and vicinity Friday fair a
wanner: winds math northerly.
Oregon and Washington Friday fair ; warmer
-relay except near the coast; gentle winds,
mostly northerly.
WEATHER CONDITIONS
The pressure is moderately low on the north
Atlantic coast and over an irregular belt reach
ing from California and Arizona to North Da
kota and thence to northern Alberta. Areas of
high pressure are central in the upper Missis
sippi valley and off the north Pacific coast.
Precipitation has occurred on the extreme north
ern. Kocky Mountain slope, and at scattered sta
tions in Tennessee. Massachusetts, l.'tah, Wash
ington, and British Columbia. The following
heavy rainfall is reported: Boston. Maae., 1.94;
Knoxville. Term., 1.56. The temperature is
abnormally high in parte of Utah, Idaho, Mon
tana. North Dakota, and Manitoba, and is
nearly normal in other sections.
Relative humidity at Portland: Noon yester
day, 82 per cent; 5 00 p. m. yesterday, 45
per cent; 5.00 a, m. today, K2 per cent.
Precipitation since January 1st: Total, 24.06
inches; normal, 25.04 inches; deficiency, -0.98

Order of Hibernians and ladies' auxil

slight signs of improvement .and had
partly regained consciousness. At times
the boy seems to understand what is said
to him. Attendants have more hope for
ms recovery. For over a week the lad

early this morning and created volumes
of smoke which called out the fire de

Fractured Ankle in
Ramming His Track
Against Phone Pole

Mercy Timber company, suffered a fiac
tured ankle and was taken to St. Vin
cents hospital Wednesday when he
rammed into a telephone pole at Union
avenue and Preecott street following a
slight collision With a P. R. L. P.

waa going south on Unto avenue and
passed Mowlds, who was going in the
same direction. As Mowlds turned in
toward the curb to give Schenck more
room, a piece of Umber on Mowlds' truck
hooked into the rear of the load of poles
and threw Mowlds out of Ms course and
into a telephone pole. The Impart or
the truck against the telephone pole
shifted the load of lumber, a piece of
which rammed through the cab on the
truck And struck Mowlds on the ankle.
