Dr. Herbert I Willett of Chicago,
western representative of the 32 de
nominations included in the Federal
Council of Churches of Christ in
America, will be the principal
Bpeaker Monday night at the First
Methodist church at the 1921 winter
meeting of the Portland federation
of churches." Ills subject will be "Ad
vancing the Kingdom Through Co
operation., .
At this meeting the executive council
will present a chart of the organization
and activities of the federation to ail
'those attending, and will also furnish a
report of the last six month's work.
The federation counts itself fortunate
In having Dr. Willett as its special guest
of honor. Dr. Willett was for two years
the executive president of the Chicago
Kthurch Federation, and in addition to
Ms present connection with the federal
council he is also a member of the fa
culty of the University of Chicago.
Bishops V. T. Sumner and W. O. Shep
ard of rortland describe Dr. Willett as
one of the most eloquent men ' on the
American platform today. Owing to the
special character of the meeting the

with expectancy the big series of re
vival meetings to; be held February
20 to March 9 at The Auditorium by
the Rev. TJ. E. Harding of Indianapolis,-and
the Rev. Bona Fleming
of Ashland, Jvy.,; nationally known
evangelists.,: m
Arrangements are now under way for
a large chorus choir, which will be di
rected by Professor R. A. Shank of Cin
cinnati, a - well known musician. Two
thousand song books have been pur
chased so everybody can sing.
Three singing evangelists, E. M. Cor
nelius, O. B. Myers and James Campbell,
are now In the city preparing for the
revival by singing in. churches and at
factory noon meetings. Meetings will
be held every night at 7:30 o'clock.
and every afternoon except Sunday, Mon
day and Saturday at 2:30 o'clock. On
Sunday afternoon the meeting will be
held in a large church. ;

Hundreds of Baptists from Northern
Oregon will gather in Portland Monday
and Tuesday for what promises to be
one of the most important, missionary
conferences ever held in the state. This
Oregon meeting Is f one ,of a chain
of 35 such conferences being held
throughout the nation -during February
and -March. ; . "
Three nationally! known Baptists who
will appear on the conference program
are Dr. Charles A. 'Brooks of the Ameri
can Baptist Home Mission society and a
commissioner of the Baptist World Al
liance ; Mrs. Henryl W. Peabody of Mass
achusetts, first : vice president " of the
Woman's American Baptist Foreign
Mission society ; and the Rev. W. 11.
Bowler, field representative of the gen
eral board of promotion. "
The conference will start with a mass
meeting at the Fast Side Baptist church
at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at which
Dr. Brooks will be the main speaker.
The remainder of the meetings on Mon
day and Tuesday: will be at the White
Temple, and will be held from 9 a. nr.
to noon, from 2 to B p. m. and at 7 :30
p. m. The conference will be In charge

in the city will be held at 8 o'clock in this

the hospital. During February ha will remain
quiet at his home. . Last Monday the Portland
Ministerial association ordered the president and
secretary to send Dr. Hinson a messase of sym
pathy and the promise of an Interest in their
prayers. -
A stereoptieon lecture entitled, "Here and
There in Old China. will be giren Sunday eve
ning at the Third Baptist ehnrch. This will be
the first of two illustrated Sunday evening dis
courses on China. A song service precedes the
evening meeting.
Dr. Charles It. Sheppards, superintendent of
Chinese work on the Pacific coast for the Bsp
tist Home Mission society, will speak Sunday
morning at tilencoe Beptut church. Dr. Shep
pards is one of -the speakers at the Baptist mis
sionary, convention. The pastor will preach at
night.
The sixth illustrated lecture in the series on
"The Great Physician." will ba given Sunday
night at Calvary Baptist church.

Parks of West Virginia. A chorus of 35 voices
will sing. On Monday evening the men's broth
erhood banqnet will be addressed by Dr. G. C.
Bassett of Reed college and John Gratke of
the 1925 exposition. Municipal Judge George
Boesman will preside.
The Pacific university alumni rally will be
held in the First Congregational church next
Friday evening.
Beginning February 20 and continuing for
five Sunday evenings, the new moving pictures,
"From the Manger to the Cross," will be shown
at Sunnyside Congregational church. The Men's
club will cooperate in these services. The first
Sunday night it has arranged to have Dr.
W. T. Kerr give a short patriotic address on
the lives of Washington and Lincoln. A special
collection for the famine sufferers of China was
received last Sunday morning, amounting to
over S140. Next Tuesday the Ladies' Aid so
ciety will meet in the church at '1 o'clock and
sew for the Louise Home. -
Evangelist A. B. Snider will preach at the
Sunday morning and evening services at Laurel
wood Congregational church. The morning ser
mon will be an address especially to children.
