Recent receipts of wheat in
have almost broken all prevlomis records.
Unexpectedly heavy arrivals have been
shown here and almost every' bushel of.
it will go export. j
That Pacific Northwest wheat growers have
sold sbout half of their wheat crop: is indicated
at this time. There has been enormous selling
in scattered lots during the last six
jweek. The
aggregate
possible.
This is
is far more than bad been believed
the reason why the, British commis
sion has been able to force values down as
pleased. It has the aid of some- of the big
Chicago firms who send broadcast : the bearish,
reports that the international clique uses as its
chief weapon. For every instance every time
ther is a fractional advance in the wheat prices
the Chicaco houses allied with tire rf'.qne imme
diately send over the wire that the
going to break. Naturally tbia cat
short sales and force valuea down.

There was a total of 94. cars of live
stock reported in the North Portland al
leys over Sunday, compared with 100
cars a week ago and 120 cars two weeks
ago. A year ago there were 118 cars re
ported in for the same day. Hogs were
generally steady, as were other lines.
Almost half of the total run of hogs over Sunday,
to be exact, 1309 head, did not enter the market
at all Monday. these were from the midwest
and were direct to a local packing branch of an
Eastern firm.
Hogs in general were considered steady
character, with most of the tops around $11.50,
but a portion of one load went at $11.75. It
appears that some of the small killers that come
to the yards are forced to pay a premium over
the regular market whenever they need supplies.

Cow Trad Good
While the cattle market in spots was inclined
to show weakness at North Portland at the
start of the Monday morning trade, the general
position was steady. For cow and heifers the
situation was generally favorable. , There has
been a more persistent demand for such offer
ings and late supplies have not been sufficient.
One car of cows of quality topped the previous
market by 25c but the quotation was not gen
erally accepted, and remained at $7.25.
