Ask Tariff on F.pp; Centraua, Jan. 2 '2 Ijocal poultrymen have sent a telegram to Congressman Albert Johnson asking that ho cooperate with other senators in urging a protective tariff of 12 cents per dozen on imported eggs, 20 cents on frozen eggs. 50 cents per pound on powdered eggs and 1 3 cent ier pound on dreeed poultry. Developments here indicate that the bulk of the recent sales of wheat in Port land and other coast terminals has been made for the account of Germany but France and Italy have been very liberal buyers of cargoes. It appears that every time the market breaks Kuropean busi ness increases, although the British com mission is still inclined to sit tight on the price lid. Indicating the methods that are employed to artificially lower the price of wheat in this coun try is the statement that exporters and shippers were anxious resellers of wheat and this was glutting the market. It lias been only a day or so . that the same interests who sent this soo&lled information were saying that buaine&s of exporters was J u. t as liberal as supplies they could secure. , Then again the misinformation was sent broadcast that the Argentine export duty on wheat had been removed. Ail of this places the seller at a disadvantage. During the Saturday morning trade there waa a very erratic tone in wheat options, price changes being rapid. Small trading has been resumed in oats but there U little activity noted in barley.
