It Kischer, representing the Pacific Union company, j of Portland, la on Coos Bay with a view i ' of arranging to put a vessel on the run ! from Portland to this harbor and' other ', small ports in Houthem Oregon. The boat would give service between Ban- don, on the Coquitle river, and Reeds port und Gardiner on. the Umpqna river, i direct with Portland. It Is 146 feet long and is narrow and draws only 1 nine feet of water so is well adapted for making the smaller harbors. Fischer states that the company has been guar : anteed 300 tons of freight a week from ! Portland to Coos bay and other ports and that the only question now is secur- In- enough freight from this section of . the state to Portland. The decision- as to whether or not the boat will be put on the run depend upon vj. whether enough freight from Southern - Oregon to Portland can be assured. Mr. -if Fischer is calling upon shippers to learn jj,? Just what business he can secure. i LLTEN AN CE HIGH, SHIPS v .' MAY LAY l'P, SAYS BEXSON Washington, Jan. 18.
