will be of decided advantage to the
West to have an exhibit of Irrigated
land products where senators and
representatives can see it, particu
larly during the next extra session
of congress when it is hoped that a
comprehensive policy of reclamation
- can be outlined.
With this purpose in view the Oregon
senator has secured permission for In
stallation of exhibit in one of the large
caucus rooms of the aenaa office bulld
. In-, which was at one time used for 'ex
hibition of official war iJhotopraphs. It
is the senator's Intention to have hear
ings on reclamation conducted In this
room by the committee on irrigation, of
which he is chairman.
.Some of the towns of Eastern Oregon

an exhibit, and the matter has been
placed before the Western States Rec
lamation Association, of which Governor
Davis of Idaho Is president. The reply

understood that the people of Newport

He adds that after the preliminaries are
disposed of Douty is not averse to doing

BILL SAYS CONCERNS MAY

though organised there. This relates. to
co'ting timber on. public lands for min
ing, agricultural or domestic use, under

The wool men, who "have no market at
all" were declared to be worse off than
the. grain growers and the cotton men
and others seeking relief legislation by
W. F. G. Harding, governor of the fed
eral reserve board, when testifying be
fore the Joint congressional committee.
Governor .Harding also spoke of the
livestock Interest as standing in a posi
tloh by itself because, he said, many of
; the stockmen require accommodation for
two years to finance the growing of the
calves, while the ordinary farmer re
quires only a short time credit of six
months or so which the banks can more
easily meet.
: It was for . this Reason that he sug
gested that' Senator Hitchcock's .bill to
- provide a" fund of $100,000,000 from the
profits earned by the federal reserve
banks this-year and next, for agricul
tural relief be devoted entirely to the aid
.of the livestock Industry. It would serve
; that interest, he thought, but would be
, too small a fund to accomplish results'lf
pread over the entire farming Industry.
It was Governor's Harding's view that
.-' the farmers might well market a small
:. part of their produce at reduced prices
t from time to time and thus assist in eas
rlng down the situation to lower levels, a

share a loss or a reduction of expected
profits. He denied that the reserve
