Marquam Hill Mud
.Slide Preventative
Sought by Council
To fix the responsibility for the fre
quently recurring slides which tem
porarily block xerwiiuger Douievara, ue
ing up traffic on that thoroughfare for
hours at a time, and to prescribe and
enforce thevremedy, the city council
Wednesday instructed City Engineer
Laurgaard to make a thorough investi
gation at once
Unofficial reports are to the effect that
the slides are due to the mounds of dirt
carelessly piled on the slope of Marquam
hill above -the boulevard when the foun
dation was dug for the county hospital.
The winter rains have almost liquefied
the dirt mounds so that frequent slides
occur, and the latest slides, have sent
tons of mud into Dunlway park, the
council was Informed. '
