Campaign; Many Bargains.
Successful termination of. the auc

Multnomah hotel Tuesday night not
only proved the effectiveness of
this method of disposing of non-productive
property, but. showed con

the sale of residence sites . exists In
the city and that just around the
corner an aggressive home building
campaign is in active preparation.
Though the Laurelhurst company had
planned the sale of only 200 lots, a total

total amount realized by the company
from the sale being $308,000. 'The sale
is the first of its kind held in Portland,"
said Paul Murphy, manager of the Laur

justify the venture. Many of the lots
sold at ridiculously low prices, but the
building campaign started by the sale
will prove beneficial to the addition and
to the city at large, and we are well sat-

The sale was conducted under auspices
of Barry & Austin, a Chicago firm of
auctioneers. Barry and Austin leave
