The new prices are a drop of about 50 cents a box from former quotations and will allow local wholesalers and retailers to shade their quotations here. This will also affect to some extent the price of oysters, as the two markets are affected by one another. Roseburg, Dec. 16 The turkey market opened here Wednesday, two days ahead of schedule. Five hundred top birds were purchased by a local dealer for the Vancouver Klks Turkey trot. These birds were selected from the very best of Douglas county's birds. The market for Christmas is one of ! uncertainty as many factors enter into I the Christmas trade that did not figure in the Thanksgiving market. Growers are now pooling their birds for a higher market price. The pool ia being formed through the Douglas county farm bu reau and 3000 birds have been signed up to date. Ju3t what effect the pool will have on the competitive buyers is not yet known. It is an assured fact that the farmers know what the. markets are as well as the buyers.
