The state depart ment announced that "on and after Oc tober 2 all persona In the United States are authorized to trade and communi cate" with "all persons with whom trade and communication was prohibited" by the trading; with the enemy act. Although the United States is still technically at war with Germany, all restrictions upon trade with that coun try are thus removed. . It is provided,' however, that "the aoove mentioned general license does not authorise any trade with respect to any property that has been reported to the. alien property custodian." Westcott Cars Out In Price, Manager . Kron Is Informed B. H. Kron, western manager of the Westcott Car company of Spring-field. Ohio, made a short visit In Portland Saturday. While here he was advised that a substantial cut had been made In the price of Westcott cars. "I have been aware all along- that as soon at we exhausted the high priced material we had on hand, we would make a cut in the price of our car. The new price just announced means that we have been able to buy materials for future delivery at a better flrure. "We advanced our prices in the first place only because the prices of ma terials we used were boosted sky high." Duck and Pheasant Shooting Very Good Duck and pheasant shooting during the first three days of the eeason was re ported to be very food. Lots of ducks were killed in the lower Columbia river valley. Arch Parrott, Jack Helser, Bill Pryor and Cliff Brown brought home a fair baa;, while Prank Piatt, Bill Crowe, Bert Norden and Dr. Proudfoot had good shooting on SaUvles Island. I Jack Herman and W. Gifford Nash' Saturday bight at Bozeman, Mont., has been received in Portland by relatives. Nash was until recently one of Portland's well known pian ists. He left the city five years ago ! to become head of the musical de-! psrtment at the University of Mon tana. Death was caused by pneu monia. While here Nash was with the Uni versity of Oregon music . school. He founded the musicians' club and was a member of the University club. Nash was born In England and came to this country when a youth. He re turned abroad later to finish his mu sical education. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Wallls Nash of Nashville, Or. Besides his parents, Nash is survived by his wife and two sons at Boseman; his sister, Miss Dorothea Nash of Port land, and four brothers, Perclval, Des borough. Roderick and Darwin. Nash was 62 years of age. He visited Port land during the summer, when he epSnt his vacation at his old home In Nash ville. Campers at State Fair Grounds Name Schulmerich Head Salem, Oct, 4. At the annual meeting of the Camper's Association of Oregon William Schulmerich of Hlllsboro was elected president and George Hoeye of Oregon City, vice president David H. Looney of Jefferson presided ; Mrs. A. King of Salem was chosen secretary and Mrs. Edith Tosier Weatherred of Port land chairman of the board of directors, which consists of State Senator Frank Porter of Linn county, C. W. Redmond of Washington county. W. W. Smeed of Morrow county and H. F. Goodspeed of Tillamook county. The Hurlburta of Linn county showed the largest number of relatives in camp this year, 63. t The association voted unanimously against allowing concessions on the camp grounds, but awarded for life the restaurant privilege to the present man ager, who came for the thirty-first time this year. Erection of cottages in the Tented city was urged. The Tented city population reached 6000, the largest at a state fair in 10 years. Girl Struck Down On Leaving Curb Eileen Murray, aged 9. daughter of N. V. Murray, Capitol hill, sustained a fractured leg when she was struck by an automobile driven by J. E. Bentley, 832 East Twenty-ninth street. The girl is at St. Vincents hospital. The accident oc curred at 1064 Hawthorne avenue late Sunday afternoon. According to Bentley's report of the accident, the girl and her mother left the curb In the middle of a block and he was unable to avoid the girl. The hospital report indicates that the woman and girl were attempting to board a street car. No charge was made against Bentley.
