"Because the people have been willing to pay them." Prices are down to bedrock In some lines, aa for Instance the cattle and aheep trade. Owing to the very aharp declines in all grain recently, few of the growers are willing to aell at current values. Seemingly tbe swing to th bear price aide bad been entirely too hard la tbe wheat trade recently. There I not th (lightest statlatiesl reason for any such price movement It is true that England ia the big bear factor at this time because of tbe manipulating influence of the ontun government, but thts condition 1 momen tary and it Is doubted if value csn be held dowj for any extended period. That a big advance in the price of wheat I scarcely to be thought of, mint be the first consideration in the trade. Wheat aupplie thro ox bout the world are not sufficiently short to force any aeDsational advance in wheat, but bow great these rise will be will depend upon the final taking by Europe. Dntil England shows it real hand by making liberal purchases of wheat tbe situation Is likely to be fully controlled by the foreigner. Re rent purchase by Germany have not bad the effect expected upon the trade, but tbia buying wax not heavy enough volume. Coarse grains are very quiet as 1 the hay trade. Miltotuffs are steady.
