Inferior quality eaatern oeta are again
taking the Pacific coaat markets because
of the higher prices being asked here for
supplies of the local stock. Many car
loads of eaatern oats are due to arrive
within the next few months, while local
oata are goiisar abegging;.
. It seems queer that la new of Use fact that
the Pacific coast' produce a good- Quality oeta
that cereal mknuftetarars htre would parch
the bulk of their requirement in the eaet er
mid wear.
This condition i dn to tb fact that local
oata growers ar asking fully 81.50 a ton
tor oat at thl time than what supplies can be
purchased1 at Minneapolis and shipped hrre, arlth
freight added. .Many ears of whole oat have
been purchaser! and a number of ear of grotaa
from Minncapoli . will soon make their appear
ance here. In th meantime there a weak
ton in th local oat situation but growers ar
not willing to accept tbe eastern vain baaia.

silos are being filled. v
Prunes Buffered considerable damaa in place
from rain, and many prune, apple, and pear
were blown from tli trees. The damage from
wind wa serious in Douglas county. Picking

prune ar being shipped from eastern counties.
Early apple ara being gathered in qoaatitia.
Picking of pears continue. Picking of exe liber

Let potatoes ar still growing. Digging of
potato is progressing slowly. Tomatoes and
melons are plentiful. Kal Is doing well. Hope

Haying was delated by rain, aom nay waa
discolored, and some clover aeed spoiled. Cut
ting of the second crop of alfalfa continues in
the elevated districts, and cutting of tbe third
crop is in progress In northern and eastern coun

for pasture. Threnhing of clover seed has be
