Fowler, formerly of Pendleton and of
a prominent Umatilla county family,
completed the wedding party. Mrs.
White, who is the youngest daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. K. L. Smith of Pendle
ton, was a student of the University of
Oregon and a jnember of the Gamma
Till. IW-tii. Mr. White was alno a stu
dent of the U. of O. and a Beta Theta
PI. He was at one time president of the
student body and a soloist in the Uni
versity Glee club. The young couple
departed for California and on their
return will make their home In Kugene.

Presbyterian church. Haynes waa for
merly of Portland and is still a member
of the Multnomah club. His bride, re
cently of New York city, is the daugh
ter of Mrs. Martha Rogers of New York.

at the Laurelhurst club. The club held
its annual election ot officers Tuesday
afternoon, when the following- were
elected: Mrs. J. 0. Pitt, president:
Mrs. R. C. Long, vice president ; Mrs.
Fred A. Burgrard, secretary and treas
urer.
The club's fortnightly cprd party was
held at the clubhouse Thursday evening:,
with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dose as hosts.
At bridge Mrs. John Boentje and H. S.
Ballln won high score and at "500" Mrs.
Homer Goehler and W. B. Haines car
ried off the honors.
The women's Tuesday afternoon card
party wilt he held at the clubhouse "Tues
day at 2 o'clock, with Mra. Kenneth
Poorman and Mrs. Jesse Will as host
esses. The affair Is for members of the
club and their friends.
Another event of this week will be the
fortnightly dancing- party Thursday
night, for members only.
The women of St. Francis pariah will
give their opening card party and dance
at the church hall. East Eleventh and
Oak streets, Wednesday evening. These
affairs 'will occur frequently throughout
the winter and are open to all members
of the different parishes of the city. The
committee In charge of arrangements In
cludes Mrs. J. B. Fisher. Mrs. K. Hawes,
Mrs. E. J. Blaser, Mrs. J. B. Lurs and
Miss Nell Dorney.
Mrs. F.' N. Glade and her son, Alex
ander, are visitors for a brief period
in the city and are stopping at the
Mallory hotel. Mrs. Glade, "who was
Miss Bertha von Holt before her mar
riage, was a St. Helens Hall student,
coming to PorUand with her sister.
Marie, from Honolulu. Since her mar
riage she has traveled extensively and
has made her home in the Sandwich
Islands and in Dresden.

event of early June. Mr. Woodward is

Is a nephew of Mrs. Isaac Lea Patterson
