monds, prominent lumberman, died sud
denly Monday night from heart trouble
while attending a local prise fight Ed
monds was ' interested in the Edmonds
Lumber company and the Saddle Moun
tain Lumber company. His wife and
son. H. M. Edmonds, survive.

to the war department by Adjutant
General White In behalf of relatives of
Edward O. Scott and Clyde B. EMndin
ger of Marshfleld and Kalph Fraley of
Ashland is indicated in information re
ceived by the adjutant general, i All
three were members of the coaat artil
lery units of the Oregon National Guard
and lost their lives when a big gun
with which they were working at Camp
Lewis during the recent encampment
exploded.
Adjutant General White1' based his
claim on the precedent set by the gov
ernment in its war-risk Insurance. In
the communication received from the
war department it Is stated" that an
opinion has been requested of the Judge
advocate general as to whether the
claims can be paid out of war-risk In
surance funds. If not It Is stated. It
will be necessary to ask congress for a
special act permitting the payment of
the clalma.
In that event Adjutant General
White said, the Oregon delegation will
be asked to use Its influence in further
