Amid splen dor and lmpreesivenese. the Rlrht Reverend Father Arthur Lane, Mon day morning, received the robes of pronotary apoatoltc at the hands of Archbishop Christie, at whose in stance Pope Benedict XV conferred the honor upon the Albany priest in recognition of his 25 years of mis sionary work in Oregon. The ceremony was conducted at the local Roman Catholic church, where eccleelaatical dignitaries from all over the North wnt participated. At the con clusion of the ceremony Father Lane, then vested with the title "monslgnor," which his new office bears, celebrated muss In commemoration of the twenty ftflh anniversary of hia ordination. The day's events concluded with a banquet at the Hotel Albany, served by the Knights of Columbus In Monei trior Lane's honor. At the Investiture the ceremonies were opened by a choral selection, fol lowed by the entrance of the partici pants In procession to the altar. The papel brief according the honor was read In Latin and translated Into Eng lish by Aev. J. II. Black of Portland, chancellor of the archdiocese. At the conclusion Monalgnor Lane knelt before Archbishop Christie, representing the holy see as deputy, took the oath of office and received its Insignia, the rochet, the purple manteletta, the ba retta, skull cap and pronotary 's hat. Then Father O. F. Thompson, pastor of the Madeleine churoh of Portland, paid tribute to Monslgnor Lane and his work and congratulated him upon the celebration of his sacerdotal silver Jubilee. Among church officials present from out of town were : Bishop McOrath of Baker, diocese of Eastern' Oregon ; Rev. J. Hugbee, Rev. Henry Pellett. Kev. John Powers. Rev. George Campbell, Rev, O. F.
