proceed with the proposed fixing of
boundaries with tha assent of Russia.

however, due to the lack of mutual
agreement. It would have been prudent
Tor us to have come to an understanding
with Poland on a Una which she should
not go beyond: under any circumstances.
It Is hard to explain how the British
government, which had collaborated with
tha United States and Franca In tha
restoration of Poland, Could forget in
these few months the lessons of the
long history of Poland and so complete
ly disinterest herself In the Integrity
and Independence of this newly resur
rected state.
Lloyd George. It Is true, declared that
the maintenance of a strong and autono
mous Poland was indlspensabl to the
conservation of peace. He even decided
to pronounce a little late several sym
pathetic words for the heroic army who
defended, under the walls Of Warsaw,
Its national liberties.
