Albany, Aug. 9. Although he has con
fessed that he pushed his wife into tha
rlwr and drowned her at Astoria, Olaf
Anderson, according to local draft board
members, was too ; opposed to killing to
fight in the United States army during
the war. Anderson, - who was living
near Brownsville, i when war was; de
clared, claimed exemptiton from the
drift on thei ground that he had a wife
and child to support, and that he ;was
a i conscientious objector. His wife,
whom he confessed to have killed, came
to Albany to testify for him at that
time. .. ; ; . i i , :
The funeral of I Mrs. Anderson was
held at i Brownsville Sunday. Rev.
Prances Arant, pastor of the Christian
church, conducted the services.

Non-Partisans to
Put Own Ticket
'IntheCampaign
Vancouver, "Wash., Aug. 9. The ' de
cision to enter a third party in the
county primaries has been made by the
Non-partisans, following a long strug
srl of the various elements of that or
ganisation, including the Workers Non
partisan ; league. Central Labor coun
cil. Forty -eighters. Farmers' Non-parti-sah
league and members of the ; rail
road brotherhoods. It Is now the plan
of! the league to enter a full political
ticket when they meet in convention on
primary day.
It was decided a few weeks ago that
the- league, instead of placing its can
didates in the field on a separate ticket,
would simply indorse their candidates
on the Republican ticket.. According to
C II. Moran, president ' of the labor
council, it was decided that such a
move would be. detrimental to the best
interests of labor. "We have come out
into the - open," Moran declared. ,'and
we intend to fight this thing to the
finish." j i '
