come the topic - of greatest discussion
throughout the beach.. Preparations are
fast being - made for the tournament
which is - scheduled to begin in two
weeks. Extensive improvements have
been made on the links and it la anti
cipated that within' two years the Gear
hart golf links will be the finest beach
course in the West. Many business
men spending ' the ' week-end here ! find
the links in .fine condition. j

charge of the swimming Instruction at
the Gearhart natatorium. A great deal

Warrenton, Aug. i 7. The fishing in
Nea-Kah-Nie lake is at all times , good,
but a 9-year-old boy. "by the name of Joel
Arvldsan had to show them how to catch
the fish of the season, a salmon .trout
19 inches long. Saturday last on the
eve of, the departure of the Arvldson
family. Joel won't - half chuckle among
his pals In Portland at his good luck,
pne thing he will always have a fish
story to relate. j! . .
sWild blackberries are coming in for
their full share of pastime for the camp
ers. The luscious j berries abound in
quantities in the woods Just back of the
Alder mill. A Jolly party hied there
Saturday last for a picnic -and berry
picking. They were Mrs. J. H. Jo nan
sen, Lester Oliver, Elna Johansen, Mrs.
Gust Wold. Olga and Edna Wold.
After a delightful: outing at the beach
