HEW STEAMSHIP
POMONA TO LOAD
FOR LOCAL FIRM
Under allocation to the Columbia
Pacific Shipping company, the new
steamship Pomona, constructed at
tan Francisco, will arrive in Port
land harbor Monday. The Pomona
Is a vessel of the 12,00 tons D. W.
type and will take from this port
5000 tons of general cargo. On ar
rival she will berth at the Portland
Flouring Mills and will Hake on
wheat and flour. Ties, miscellany
and canned salmon will finish out
the general cargo from Portland.
The steamship eastern Ocean of the
Columbia-Pacific Shipping company, to
be dispatched by the McCormick-Mc-Phearaon
company, began; -lining today
and ou Monday will begin taking sacked
wheat at the Globe mills. She will take
about 7500 tons and will clear for the
United Kingdom direct.'
;. To wind up the flour shipments from
"Pugret Sound the steamship Haymon will
load at Seattle. She will take a full
cargo of flour for the continent. This
will wind up the coast affair of the Grain
corporation and hereafter the cereal
shipments will come - under private
charter.
Captain Is Beneficiary
Captain George McNeil y is the chief
beneficiary under the will of the late
Captain E. D. Parsons. The will has
been' filed for probate in Hillsboro,
Washington county, where the bulk , of
the estate of Parsons lay. The farm at
Huber, near Beaverton, goes to McNelly.
Liberty bonds and some personal effects
to Captain Michael Nolan, money be'
quests to his nurse and tq, friends are
made.
French Bark Coming
Information to the Merchants ex
change gives the sailing of the French
bark Buff on from Balboa on July 19.

mendations that the award of the United
States labor board, handed down Tues
day, be accepted by all railroad, unions
were In the mails today.
Union leaders in conference here pre
pared final instructions to the rank. and
file, recommending favorable action, or
dered an immediate ballot on the award.
The order's tone was against strike ac

Leaders of the outlaw organization of
switchmen, -whioh called a nation-wide
strike last April, voted last night to re-J
lect me award. Tbey objected because
no provision was made for seniority
rights of men! who struck at that time.

Feature Big Picnic
; Of Mazamas Sunday
The' annual Mazama picnic and - re
union will be held at Baker's Bridge,
on the Clackamas river. Sunday. The
main party will leave from the Union
station over the Southern Pacific at 8
o'clock Sunday morning, . going to
Clackamas and hiking from there; five
miles to the picnic groMnds. ,
A program of swimming and athletic
events has been arranged. :. The - party
will return by special train over the
Carver line at' 8 o'clock Sunday eve
ning, arriving in Portland at 9 :15. The
entertainment - committee of the club,
headed by George Meredith, has plans
for the affair in charge.

Coy Arrested Again
Ruth La Shore, alias Ruth Coy. said
to be the wife of a prise fighter, was ar
rested Friday night for the second time
by the Portland police, on a telegraphic
warrant from Eugene. , According to in
formation in - the hands of Captain Cir
cle, the young . woman Is said to have
passed several hundred dollars' worth of
worthless checks in Eugene. She was ar
rested here several weeks ago on a sim
ilar charge, but was not prosecuted. Po
lice say the district attorney's office aU
lowed friends of the woman to pay off

Wet Goods Seized
After an all-night watch near the in
tersection of the Linnton road and Nico
la! street, police and federal officers un
der command of Sergeant Epps Saturday
arrested Tom Krask and seized his auto
mobile and 77 pints of moonshine whis
key. Early; In the evening they - saw
Krask make the -trip toward Linnton.
They were unable to learn the source of
the liquor, so the lonely vigil was taken
up. A. federal charge f transporting
liquor will be, placed against Krask.
