BE VERY SCARCE
.' The price of berries is showing slight
decline with -tfie exception'- 'of etmwber-rie.-.
The latter are now very scarce
a Ad are selling in the retail shops around
2.1c a box. Loganberries are cheapest
and are getting plentiful. Consumers are
just beginning, to ..utilize. Currants and
it Is not " likely that prices will change
much within the ' immediate ; future.
Blackcaps are In fair supply.' ',
' Oregon peaches are. now arriving, but
they are scarce and so high priced that
cormumers are not expected to partici
pate. It is now believed that local con
sumers must fijrure upon securing their
camiing need" from' California' and. this
is likely toehold prfcs very high.
- At this time peaches are selling- at the
highest values on record and while the
movement Is not heavy, it is taking care
of alt offerings.
j New Oregon apples are malting their
appearance in small supply and soon
the .general movement will start. .
. Cherries are selling rather law because
of damaged quality, due to recent rains.

Yakima, Wash.wi July 16. Nine mem
bers of the congresional appropriation
committee, headed by Jarries W. Good
of Iowa, chairman. , reached Takima
Wednesday afternoon and ' were enter
tained at dinner, after making a drive
over the Tieton unit of the Takima
project and through the nearby orchards.
"The. committee la presumably Investi
gating the need for Irrigation develop
ment In the. West and the local commit
tee is planned to give as much informa
tion as possible during the visit here.
The drive took the party-first to the
sage brush lands in the Moxee, where
35.000 acres will some day be Irrigated,
and then to the'hfghly 'developed orch
ards ahd alfalfa fields surrounding ,the
city and out to the Tieton project, which
10 year ago was a-sage brush desert, :
A trip was taken ' Thursday down
the valley, to show the. Sunnyside proj
ect. The party will be under the direc
tion of J. I Lytel,: project, manager,
who will show the type of . irrigation en
gineering used on the several units and
the agricultural development Under in
tensive cultivation. '
