Local potatoes are arriving In larger
lots, causing the price to lower. If pres
ent rate of decline continues, high priced
potatoes will soon be a thing of the past.
Demand for local cabbage is quite
acute. Several cars were shipped out
a .few days ago, making the supply here
short. Growers around Portland do not
raise enough cabbage to supply the trade
outside the city. The quollty this sea
son is excellent. ,
Lettuce is cheap and moving well. Lo
cal gardeners are cutting good crops.

tically unchanged prices. Offers made
to cherry raisers' by canneries have so
far prevented the retail price from be

passed by the city council Wednesday
night and effective in 19 days. The ordi
nance also inelades a provision for a
fine of not less than $5 nor more than
9100 In addition to the Jail sentence.
Another clause in the ordinance pro.
vides for parking- head to th curb with

to occupy a stall to be marked out on
the pavement, with no "straddling of
stall line permitted. Much objection is
