The port refused to tak the reaponal
bllity for the removal lof the dams in
Willamette slough. Kfforts have been
made to have the dams removed in order
to ive :a. better, fairway for the log
boats operating there. A communication
from Lieutenant Cokme! SUttery con
tained a report 'on the conditions that
, might possibly result. to the lower mouth
of the Willamette ana the Columbia
