Wllhelra and Kay won from Watson and Straight. 4 upk while Fawcett and Dr. Willing; finished 2 up on Smith and Wllhelm and Kay were tip on their opponents at the end of the morning round. Kay's remarkable playing enabling- the Portland duo to win a majority of the holes. In the afternoon Straight and Wateon brace and cut the . lead down to four holes. Wash., June 14.-Three varsity captain; were elected last week to pilot Whit man varsity teams next year. Bennie Comrada was elected baseball captain by the lettermen, Ellwyn Webster as tennis leader, and Frank "Sticks De ment as track captain. Comrada ia a two-year letterman in baseball , and also football captain in 1918. He is one of the heaviest hitters on the Whitman nine, and plays the center field. Webster is also a two-year letterman. playing conference tennis in both his freshman and sophomore year, both years winning his singles matches with Washington State college and the Uni versity of Idaho, and this year playing on . the doubles team which won the triangular -conference tennis champion ship played between W. s. Both events wre shot at 18 yards. The double were won by F. M. Troeh. Vancouver, Wash., who broke 47 out of 50 targets. Tom Barclay of Prescott, Wash., tied with J. B. Troeh. Portland. for second place, and in the shoot off: at 20 targets, Troeh won, breaking 17 " to Preacott's 18. There were 108 participants In the other event, which was won by Abner Blair. Portland, with 99 breaks out of a possible 100. Second place was won by Ralph E. Klnser, Seattle.' Wash., with 98 . breaks to his credit. A. R. Johnson, Lewlston, Idaho, was third, with 97, and E. H. Soccerites Will Meet This Week After an Illness whicn-confined him to his home for almost a month. Rob ert M. D. Rankin, secretary-treasurer of the Portland Soccer Football association, is about again and an important meeting of the association will be called some time this meek. It was decided before the season closed to give medals to the first and second place winners and the matter will, come up for eettlement this week. The thirteenth day of the month brought Babe Ruth his seventeenth home run, and the second of hi western tour, in tha Yankees' game Sunday -with Cleveland.
