been inclined to shade their quotations
again. For that reason values for the
day are mixed :

Ton will note that during the past week, the
Portland increase in storage is almost five
times the Seattle increase. This haa aoma
what been reflected in the market because there
has bees practically no large smount of treh
eggs here in the last week. They hare all

egg market went along its normal course. This
year there seems to hare been tremendous
sentiment that there would he a large produc
tion and, consequently, everybody laid off. es

Cheese shows a rather peculiar situation. The
total storage holdings of cheese in Seattle .snd
Portland on May SI. 1920, was 189.801
pound., while a year ago the one. holding of
the two cities amounted to 80,281 pounds. In

cheese in the twe cities, Seattle's cheese 'hold
ings increased from May 2 1920, to May HI,
IV JO. a tout of 1885 pound, er from 140.150
pounds to 142.085 pound.. In any event it

For some reason or other there has
been -a greet accumulation of chickens
in the wholesale trade and retailers
have for- that reason been able to pur.
Chase supplies at the lowest price for
a number of years. This means that If
the conSuroer is wise she will see that
the supply for the family dinner Is pur
chased at the decline.
In some- parts of the olty ' advantage
is taken of the, lower prices by dealers
who refuse to sell for leas. Consumer
are advised that they an purchase
chsaper and If one-place does not quote
the decline, others jyiU be glad to sell.
The drop in price is moat severe In
lightweight hens and for old , roosters.
The latter are often sold to consumers
as the best birds, therefore consumers
are advised to see that they get stock
at the proper price. , : .
