street, ran into a machine driven by
" Percy O. Allen, 1019 Oregon street, Tues
day afternoon. Allen was driving: his
car east 00 Btirnside. Just as he started
to turn south, the child toddled out from
the-curb. Allen brought his rnaojiine to
a dead stop, but the younpster continued
a-nd hit the car on one of the fenders.
The force of the collision -.knocked the
T0uns;ster down, but "he was not injured.
, Identified by Finger Prist William
Whitney, charred with burglary of the
residence of James Manary. 1512 Yam
hill street, April 12, was arrested Tues
day in the Park block by Lieutenant of
Inspectors Maloney. Whitney was defi
nitely identified. Lieutenant Maloney
said, aa the one who robbed the Manary
place by Inspector Hunter. The finger
prints taken after Whitney's arrest are
said to correspond exactly to those
found on the- window of the robbed
home.
Anto Owners Fined George H. Brick
ell and Ralph StaVk, both owners of an
automobile, were fined $1 each Tues
day in municipal court when they
pleaded guilty to a charge of violating
the state motor vehicle law. The two
purchased a second hand car and
neglected to have the license trans

Admits He Stole Letters Pleading
STiilty to a charge of stealing letters
from I apartment house mail boxes.
Charles Geis of Portland was sentenced
to 12 months in jail by Judge Bean in
the federal court Monday. Gels' at
torney asked that the young man, who
had been discharged from the army be
cause tf illness, be' sent to a hospital
because of his mental condition, but
Judge Bean declared there was no rea
son for Such action on his part.

Forester to Sail for Hawaii Charles
J. KraebeU forest examiner who has been
stationed at Wind River experiment sta
tion for several weeks, arrived at the
Portland office of the forest service

sailing for Hawaii, where he has been
transferred.
