service of the United Fruit company re
turned to work ioday on every pier of
the company frotn Boston to Galveston.
Settlement of the; strike was announced
by John H. Riley of the International
Longshoremen's union. The strikers are
granted a written guarantee of a "closed
shop, said Riley.

two weeks, are planning to greet Sir
Auckland Geddes, new British ambas-
dor to the United States. n his ar
rival in New York, it was learned today.
Mrs. James Walsh, captain of the
pickets, has gone to New York to ar
range for the demonstration. Accord
ing to the plans, the pickets will line
UP on the dock displaying placards, de
nouncing British militarism and de
manding recognition of the Irish re
public. They will leave on the same
tram as the ambassador and join otner
pickets who will be waiting hers - to
make a demonstration. It is planned to
continue the picketing of Sir Auckland
