THE reopening of the Arcadian car
jleiw at the Multnomah hotel afford
ed a pleasant opportunity for much In
formal entertaining during , the past
week. On Wednesday evening society
wm well represented In the gathering
and t reservations for parties ranging
from two to 2i covers were made weeks
in advance. In fact, so great was the
demand for tables for the opening that
many bad to be disappointed in their
plans.
Favor ' In green. In keeping with St.
Patrick's day. gave a brilliant touch of
frivolity to the setting, and on the eve
nings of Friday and Saturday, when
sapper dances were riven at the grill,
bright hued caps worn by the dancers
f added much to the color and gaiety of
the scene.

Mrs. Lewis Tallman of Tacoma and
Mlss! Lucile Bradley, the accomplished
pianist who presented the program at
the MacDowell club on Tuesday, were

which a few of the members of the
club were hostesses on Tuesday? The

Miss Irene Steele, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Eldon J. Steele, who has been
seriously ill for the past several weeks.
Is convalescent. Miss Isabelle Steele,
who is attending the Oregon Agricultural
college, arrived home Saturday for the
Easter vacation.

numerous stunts in surprise for those
who attended.
The fortnightly card party was held
at' the clubhouse Thursday evening with
Mr. and Mrs. William P. Richardson
as hosts. At bridge, Mrs. A. H. Wethey
and IL R. Landfare carried off the
honors, and at "600" Mrs. M. A. Swear-
lngen and JU. C. Boffhtger won high
scores.
The Laurelhurst Study club will meet
Monday afternoon.
The Women's Tuesday Afternoon Card
club will meet Tuesday. Mrs. J. Phillip
Tamiesie and Mrs. Townsend Weils will
be the hostesses.

who Is a frequent visitor in Portland
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. An

The marriage of Miss Elsie Marie
LHmhman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Oiistav Huthman, and Percy Trumbull
Harris was an event of recent date at
the home of the bride's parents, on East
Seventh street. The bride was gowned
In white satin with which she wore a
vreath of orange blossoms. Her flow-
ets were a shower of bride roses. The
rooms for the ceremony were decked in
faster lilies, daffodils and tulips and the
service was read In the presence of the
Immediate relatives, and a few friends.
Following the ceremony a wedding sup
per was served at the Oregon grill. Fol
lowing a brief wedding trip Mr. and
Mrs. Harris will return to 'Portland to
make their home.
Alpha Phi Alumnae association will
give the first of its annual teas on Sat
urday afternoon at the home of one of

Mrs. C. (J!. Berkeley has just returned
from a visit of two months' duration
in California. Mr. and Mrs. Berkeley
left Portland in January, the former re
turning to the city some weeks ago.
