General approval of the proposed zoning
ordinance was voiced at a meeting: of
west side property owners with the city
planning commission at the city hall

Mrs. De Snell Gets 1
Year and Is Paroled;
Bigamy Case Dropped
Dismissal of tho bigamy charge
against Mrs. Stella Da Snell and her
parole after having been sentenced to
one year's imprisonment for larceny by
bailee ended the case yesterday that
grew out of Mrs. De Snell's esc a pa Se in
marrying Antone Dolecki In Portland
last summer and subsequently depart
ing with money belonging to him.
Settlement of the charge against the
woman was effected by her attorneys.
It being alleged that she was 111 at her
home in Butte, where she returned after
being released on bail October 21, in
order to obtain testimony to use In her
behalf. She had made restitution of
the funds she had decamped with.
Mrs. De Snell's attorneys pleaded
guilty for her In the larceny charge
preferred by Felix Bloch. from whom
she had purchased a $50 watch, but
paid only 115. The balance due has
been paid. About $600 was paid over to
Dolecki and $157 to the county for the
cost of bringing the woman from Butte
after her arrest in September, the funds
being provided by her husband, who is
an architect In Butte.
I. W. W. Sentenced to
Jail for Vagrancy
George L. White, alleged I. W. W.,
was sentenced to four months and fined
$100 in the municipal court Thursday
on a charge of vagrancy. White was
arrested on the night of the Armistice
day celebration with a revolver in his
pocket. He admitted he was a member
of the I. W. W., but claimed he had
been forced to Join because all of the
workmen in the lumber camp -where he
was employed were members. He said
he had to carry the gun for protection,
for he was afraid the radicals here
would harm him because he had taken
stamps worth J90 from the organization.

New Hotel Contemplated
Crater lake will have a new hotel at
White Horse next spring U the plans
of Alfred I Parkhurst. who has charge
of the park hotels, carry. The new hotel
would enable tourists to get Into the
park a month earlier than usual and
would be built principally for the Cali
fornia tourists who wish to stop at the
lake on their way north through Oregon.
At present accommodations are not
available until the official opening of
the park season July 1. Visitors at the
Crater lake hostelries showed an in
crease of 100 per cent last summer over
preceding seasons. Attendance at the
park showed an approximate Increase
from 13.000 to 16,000, and the increase at
the hotel was greater In proportion, says
Parkhurst He is at the Multnomah.
Tackles Hard Problem
E. H. Test, county Judge of Malheur
county. Is having a hard time trying to
make everybody happy. Since his In
cumbency he hears rumblings of dissat
isfaction among those in whose favor he
does not decide cases. Test is in Port
land taking up with the state highway
commission the matter of roads in his
county. Three projects are being con
sidered, a road from Cairo to Nyssa,
from Ontario to Huntington, and from
Vale to Cow valley. Malheur county is
located on the extreme end of the Co
lumbia river highway extension and
also on the end of the John Day high
way, which makes it a center for travel
from Idaho in either direction. He is
at the Imperial. "

Haines Couple See Show
C. C. Olson of Haines, accompanied
by Mrs. Olson, is stopping at the Im
perial hotel for the week and attend
ing the livestock exposition. The Olsons,
are prominent stockraisers and have a
herd of 200 Shorthorns on their ranch
near Haines. They will leave Saturday
for Long Beach. Cal.. to spend the win
ter. Conditions are prosperous in the
Haines section, according to Olson, and
farmers in that vicinity expect to bene-
