FLYING SQUADRON
VISITS PORTLAND
Cause of Missions Will Be Pre
sented Before Christian Con
gregation by Speakers.
A "flying squadron" of four people
will make the rounds of the Chris
tian churches in Oregon during the
coming seven weeks, where they will
present the cause of missions to the
various congregations. Tuesday
afternoon the Rev. C. F. Swander, In

gon, will leave with the following
team: W. F. Turner of Spokane,
Northwest district superintendent of
missions; Mrs. Louise Kelly of Spo
kane, Northwest superintendent of
women's work, and the Rev. B. S.
Muckley of Portland, Northwest su
perintendent of benevolent work.
As the team visits eachchurch they
will stress the necessity ff an every-
membcr canvass. All of the addresses
are to be missionary, the purpose be
ing to win greater financial support
from the members. In stressing the
need of missions the need of local
causes will not be forgotten. Rev. Mr.
Swander said.
During the next five years the
churches in Oregon are trying to line
up 10,000 members in their tithing band !
club. As the missionary department of J
the church is behind this movement, the
team will also lay stress upon the ne
cessity of Christian stewardship. Dur
ing the present campaign the team will
strive to sign up the various congrega
tions so that their gifts to the cause of
missions will reach $5 per member per
annum, which is the goal set by the last
state convention.
