Davis, 85 years old. escaped from In
spector Robert Craddock In Montana,
while he was being returned to Port
land to answer to a grand jury indict
ment on a charge of larceny. Late Wed
nesday sight he was placed behind the
bars la- the city Jail by Inspector Fred
Craves, after he had served a two year
term in the Texas penitentiary on. a

After escaping' (from Craddock Davis
is said to have stolen, two motor cars
in Texas. Graves served the local war
rant - as Davis was . released from the
Texas penitentiary. j J
Davis is charged with having stolen
a motor car here on June 15 1917. - ,
