: 700 persons have enjoyed the hospitality
of White Salmon at the auto camping
park In this city this season. Among
the states represented on the camp
register are Pennsylvania. New Tork.
North Dakota, Oklahoma, Nebraska,
. - Ohio. Kansas. Tennessee, Wyoming.
Idaho and Montana, and every part of
. the states of Oregon. California and
Washington. . . .
The rest house, with its comfortable,
cool porches, chairs, couches and current
paper and. magazines, has proved most
welcome to travelers. ,
The park covers three-fourths of an
acre, is electrically lighted, provided
with an abundance of fuel and water,
.benches, tables and cooking outfits.

Scale Mount Hood
Aud Reach Summit
Hood River, July 21. One hundred
and forty-eight mountain climbing en
thusiasts, i31 of them Maaamas, climbed
Mount. Hood Sunday in celebration of
the quarter centennial of the organisa
tion of the Masamas. ,
The i day was ideal and the trip to
. the summit and return to the north side
was without accident. One hundred and
two of the party made the ascent from
Government camp. They were all Port-
, C. II. Sholos, charter member of the
Masamas, made an address to the party
gathered in, the burning sun on the sum
mit. L. M. Baldwin and Hans Hoerlein
guided the Hood River party from Cloud

Dies in California
Albany.' July 21. Mrs.' Alice Wheeler,
formerly an elocution teacher In Albany
-college, died Thursday at saunas, cat.
Her maiden name was Alice Moses and.

mond Wheeler, then county superin-
