Efforts of Bandits
To Bob Train Are
Defeated by Crew
CincinnaU. June 21. (J. X. . S.)
Through the coolness of Engineer
Thomas and the sawed -off shotgun of
Brakeman Melville Huggles. four train
robbers were foiled this morning- in the
city limits of lAmm when they attempted
to hold up Baltimore at Ohio passenger
train 67 from Detroit to Cincinnati as it
was entering a siding to allow a north
bound train to pass. -
The bandits, after uncoupling' the en
gine from the,, express car, fired two
shots at the engineer and told him to
move his engine, r Thompson refused.'
Rugg-les heard the shots, and, coming
up. fired at the bandits, who fled.
The act of the engineer in refusing to
start his engine averted a wreck with
the north-bound tram."
