Farming
and
Dairying
A wonderful opportunity! The tids
lands along the lower. Umpqua, Smith
and Schofield Rivers when put in con
dition will raise all kinds of grains,
grasses, vegetables and fruits. The nat
ural grasses on these tidelands alone
f will feed ( thousands of cattle the year
i around. -
V Many of these lands are now diked
and under high state of cultivation.
These places are returning very hand
some profits to the owners and tenants.
There are1 hundreds of chances to get
unimproved tidelands at very fair prices
and 'these lands will make anyone inde
pendent who will work.
The creek bottoms and little valleys
among the uplands are very rich in soil.
These bottoms and valleys are numerous
and many of .them are still unimproved
and are to be had at a nominal figure.
You complain' of your chance, but, man,
you have a better chance than our forefathers-had.

best here, arid crabs, clams, sturgeon,
bass, shad; salmon trout, mountain

is a large, fishery arid a cannery which
affords a ready ntarket for your catch ;
at all times.; There are several hundred '
-fishermen heirc who follow fishing, for a
living, and many of the farmers do a
. i i t tie fishing : occasionally. Fish are
mighty nice fo,f ;your own table and' help
to materially reduce the cost of living.
Besides the extra money to be made is
quite an item to consider.
, ; COME

we want' you. ,.
We want those who want tomes permanent '
homes who want schools and churches, who ,
stand for the home and fireside and everything
for its betterment, and who are willing; to work
lor these things. Why not get out and give
'yourself and your family a chance? ' Get away
from - congested; centers 'Of population, where
you are barely making; a living,' with no pro
pect ahead except some more of the same thing.
Come to .Mother Earth and Nature. Come and
' live in as nearly an ideal climate and country
1 as can ' be found anywhere. Come and give
yourself and your boy or girl a chance to really '
live. It's your own fault if you don't grab this
chance. V. ; : , '.: - .. . .
