Practically every school in the city
which had a place to plant a tree ac

mer to furnish walnuts grown from a
tree descended from one growing on the
grounds of Mount Vernon, and the plant-!
ing of the historic nuts will form a part
of the program. . Many of the schools,
however, have cortcrete yards with 'no
place for growing trees.
School assemblies with addresses and
patriotic music are being held in, some
of the schools and in others the teachers
have arranged for exercises for their
respective rooms.
On Saturday, banks, the court house,

Has Roused a Buying Frenzy Which Will Not Cease!
CROWDS! A gathering of many people! jammed, crammed in every aisle every nook and corner of the store, clear through from
First to Second! Sidewalks packed outside by an eager, ever-changing throng that would not be denied! By the thousands they
came, intent upon one thing: to buy! buy!! buy!!! before these never-to-be-forgotten bargains all had melted away! Never be
fore has; Simon's or Portland seen such insistent throngs never before has Simon's or Portland had such merchandise to sell at such prices!
You were promised bargains, and you found them here! Each day each hour
will brirlg new surprises. We cannot show all of this mammoth stock on our
sales floors at one time. Come, daily for new bargains! Come early in the day
if you possibly can do so!
This Sale of Stock From the $ 1 75,000
Fire of the People's Warehouse Co.
Will Continue Until ALL Is SOLD!
TO THE tens of hundreds who were unable to gain admittance
to the sale, we say: Come again! It is our sincere wish that
all may have opportunity to share in these astounding economies.
There are tens of thousands of dollars' worth of merchandise in
reserve. New goods will go onto the floors daily to replace the
inroads of the previous day. We wish to serve all as quickly
as may be done, whether it be the sale of a 10-cent article or one
running into hundreds of dollars, therefore again we say: Come
again !
