LIKE NEW
V "I had Neolin Soles put on my
shoes wore these shoes every day for
fifteen months, then had Neolin half
soles put on. They are still in good
condition," writes F. T. Evans, of
Seattle, Washington.
This is cutting shoe bills down to the
minimum through Neclin Soles. Any
one can do this if he will follow Mr.
Evans'- example, and have his shoes
re-bottomed with Neolin Soles. These
tough, durable soles cost no more
than -soles that give only ordinary
wear.-And alt good repair shops have
them. -
Neolin Soles come on new shoes,

PERSONAL MENTION
Seattle Hotel lien Coming
"Our greatest trouble during the strike
was in getting our laundry work done."
said F. M. Watt, owner of the Fry hotel
at Seattle, who is attending the Rotary
convention. "But wo managed tt some
how and the trouble was over in a few
days. Only a few of our maids left us,
and these we had suspected would leave,
so we had secured others In their places.
As for meaxs, while we did not serve
elaborate courses, our guest never had
to frequent the soup kitchens. 'Things
are normal now business went back
with a rebound." Mr. Watt says that a
large number of hotel men from Seattle
are coming to attend the Oregon State
Hotel Men's association convention in
Portland next week. Mr. Watt is stay

Care or Soldiers Criticized
"We are fax. ahead of you folks in
caring for our returned soldiers," de
clared H. T. Baker of Edmonton. Al
berta, at the Seward this morning.
"Just look at your returned men on the
streets ! There is nothing for them to do
and you. don't encourage them in any
way. Up there we give them land
we give them work, we give them
money. Wv-have schools where we
teach them a trade by which they may
earn a living. Until they obtain work,
the government pays them $37.50 a
month. It provides them with a suit of
civilian clothes. Yet you think you have
a fine country." Mr. Baker left for
California, where he expects to visit his
daughter and make a tour of the state
in his machine. Mr. Baker owns a store
at Kdmonton.

If You Need a Medicine
You Should Have the Best
Have you ever stopped to reason why
it is that so many products that are ex
tensively advertised, all at once drop out
of sight and are soon forgotten? The
reason is plain the article did not fulfil
he promises of the manufacturer. This
applies more particularly to a medicine.
A medicinal preparation that has real
curative value almost sells Itself, as like
an endless chain system the remedy is
recommended by those who have been
benefited, to those who are in need of It.
A prominent druggist saya : "Take for
example Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Root, a
preparation I have sold for many years
and never hesitate to recommend, for in
almost every case it shows excellent re
sults, aa many of my customers testify.
No other kidney remedy has so large a
sale."
. According to sworn statements and
verified testimony of thousands who have
used the preparation, the success of Dr.
Kilmer's Swamp-Root Is due to the fact,
so many people claim, that it fulfils al
most every wish In overcoming kidney,
liver and bladder- ailments, corrects ur
inary .troubles and neutralises the urio
acid which causes rheumatism.
You may receive a sample bottle of
Swamp-Root by parcels post Address
Dr. Kilmer & Co., Binghamton. N. Y

Portland Journal. Large and medium
